Glarien of White Ash is coming to Kickstarter
about 3 years ago – Tue, Feb 02, 2021 at 03:26:56 AM

Hello White Ashians,

Happy New Year/ February.  I hope you are all doing exceedingly well.  By now, everyone should have their rewards from Chapter Five.  If you don't, shoot me a DM and we'll see where things are at. But we're not here to talk about last year's, business, but instead all the exciting things we have cooking for you in 2021.  To start with, this will be launching in a roughly three weeks...

Glarien of White Ash #1

Like with all our campaigns, this one will be filled with early-bird special discounts and limited rewards that we roll out for our returning backers.  You can SIGN UP HERE to be notified when it goes live.

I'll be back with more details about the project very soon, but this is the first issue of an all-new White Ash adventure starring Glarien that takes place 3000 years ago in Alfheim AND in New York City in the Spring of 1971.

And while we're on the subject of Glarien, a little reminder that Scout will be releasing a print version of the digital Glarien shorts that we gave out last campaign.  That will be out in stores very shortly.  As an extra thank you to our backers, I'll be dropping a special Glarien discount code next week.  That will entitle you to 20% off of those issues and all other comics on the Scout Webstore.

But what about Aleck and Lillian? Never fear, this summer we'll be dropping a HUGE Kickstarter that will cover the next arc of their adventures.  On top of that, The Game will be makeing its triumphant return to Kickstarter late this spring.  So buckle up, 2021 is going to be a wild ride.

However, if you're looking for some worthy projects to invest your kickstarter dollars in today, I have two fabulous projects for you to take a look at.  The first is Steve Bryant's classic, pulp-adventure series, Athena Voltaire.

Athena Voltaire has been published through Dark Horse and Action Lab.  But today, it's a KS first title. Great for fans of Laura Croft, Indian Jones or The Rocketeer.  Athena Voltaire has already funded and is chugging through stretch goals. Now's the time to jump on the train.  And by that, I mean THE TERROR ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS.

Also on kickstarter is a campaign from Kat, Brant and Mike -- The Comic Book Weeekly Podcast.

This is a fabulous podcast that covers books from the Big Two, to the littlest ones.  They're also Kickstarter creators and huge backers of the community. So please,  check out their campaign and hit subscribe on their youtube channel and help them continue to spread the word on what's good in comics.

Thanks again for all your continued support.  I'll be back soon with more details about Glarien,

Stay safe and all the very best,

Charlie, Conor and Fin.

New Glarien short for backers.

Hello White Ashians,

Check your inboxes, we've just sent out a link to the last stretch goal from the campaign -- another digital Glarien story.  This one is draw by the incredible Yishan Li who absolutely killed it.  We hope you enjoy the short.

Some of you have reached out and asked if there would be a way to get these shorts in physical form. I looked into the possibility of doing a kickstarter to finance a small print run and make them available to you all.  But after weighing those costs, I talked to Scout Comics about seeing if there would be interest there in putting out Glarien as a one-shot.  They were very interested, and so we quickly moved ahead to put things into motion.   So I'm thrilled to announce that these Glarien shorts (the ones drawn by Romina and Yishan) along with the Glarien short illustrated by Conor and Fin (that was part of the White Ash hardcover) will be available in comic shops everywhere this February.

If you would like one, the best way to make that happen is to tell your local comic book shop to preorder it for you.  They will also be available on Scout's website (in Feb) if you don't happen to have a local comic shop.

If you'd like them to order Conor's cover for you...

Give them the preorder code DEC201663

If you'd like them to preorder Romina Moranelli's cover for you...

Give them the preorde code DEC201662

These are only $3.99 books, so if so inclined, feel free to preorder both :)

The Glarien mini-series will be launching on Kickstarter shortly after the one-shot hits the stands (Tentatively, the 15th of February). We'll be in touch to remind you, as we want to make sure that any White Ash fans who want to jump on the Glarien train don't miss out on the early-bird deals.  In terms of White Ash Prime, Aleck and Lillian will be returning early next summer, when we'll be launching the most ambitious White Ash kickstarter to date (Details early next year).

Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone.  And for those of you in other countries that don't celebrate Thanksgiving, have a great Thursday and try not to overeat too much.

Stay safe,

Charlie, Conor and Fin

Shipping is 95% complete
over 3 years ago – Sun, Nov 15, 2020 at 09:17:20 PM

Hello White Ashians,

When I hit the post office on Monday, packages will have shipped for every backer (domestic and international) who didn't pledge at the sketch cover or original art level.  Those packages will be going out in the next two weeks. (Conor is finishing up the very last of the sketches now).  If you don't have a shipping confirmation for your book by the end of this coming week, please free to reach out so we can get you that information.

We really appreciate your patience and we hope you enjoy/ enjoyed Chapter Five and the assorted goodies we have sent out.

Also... last update we teased that there would be a White Ash-related Kickstarter launching soon.  Unfortunately we're going to have to delay that Kickstarter for a couple of months as we want to make sure the book is just about done before we launch (We don't want any more unexpected delays). BUT we're happy to announce today that project will be...

GLARIEN, a White Ash prequel mini-series featuring the most dangerous elf in 9 realms. Glarien is now slated to launch in early 2021.   We'll make sure that when it goes live, you'll all be the first to know. The series is being  drawn by the incredible Romina Moranelli with some color work also being done by White Ash's Fin Cramb. The pages that have come in so far are jaw-dropping.  I can't wait to show them to you as we delve into and expand the backstory of the White Ash Universe.

Buuuuut, if you're looking to back a Kickstarter today that features an ass-kicking elf, you've got to check out Michael Avon Oeming's The After Realm.

Yes, in case you were wondering, that's the same Oeming who co-created Powers with Brian Michael Bendis.  The After Realm follows Oona Lightfoot, an Elf torn away from her best friend at the beginning of Ragnarok. She struggles to find her friend to fulfill a promise they made about exploring the Nine Realms.

After saving her people from Loki, Oona sets out to explore those new worlds and record what has become of them,  and to record what happened to the Old Gods and the new peoples that inhabit it.

I just LOVE this series.  Obviously, there's a lot of thematic overlap with White Ash that I think fans of our book will gravitate to.  Oeming has been creating comics for a very long time, but with After Realm, you can tell this is a personal story that nostalgically interweaves tropes from his childhood.  I really recommend you check it out. The time-lapse video alone of Oeming drawing is worth clicking over.

I also wanted to give you all a quick heads up that if you hadn't had a chance to back it yet, Rylend Grant's THE PEACEKEEPERS only has 5 days left on Kickstarter.

The Peacekeepers is a dark, quirky crime drama in the vein of Fargo or No Country for Old Men. It’s a love letter to case-a-season police dramas like True Detective and The Wire, to Elmore Leonard novels, and to comic masterpieces like Criminal and 100 Bullets.

Rylend has been such a strong advocate for White Ash and indie comics in general.  I've had the pleasure to be on several panels he's hosted at San Diego Comic Con and Wondercon. He's a great guy and a fabulous writer.  I hope you all take a moment to check Peacekeepers out.

Have a great week everyone.  I'll be back soon with an update on that last Glarien digital short we promised to deliver as our "we're sorry we were late" apology gift.

Stay safe everyone,

Charlie, Conor and Fin
