Hope everyone’s summer is going well and you’re staying safe. We just wanted to quickly check in with you and update you to where everything stands with White Ash: Chapter 5.
Prints: Done.
Pins: Have been shipped and should be in White Ash HQ very shortly.
Glarien Stretch Goal Story: Waiting on the last page of colors now. Should be distributed as a digital reward sometime in the next two weeks.
As for Chapter Five itself... unfortunately, we're now looking at it being slightly delayed. As many of you may have experienced, the Covid-19 “Everyone sequestered at home arrangement” isn’t incredibly conducive to getting work done... especially when you work out of your house (as most artists do). To that end, we are looking at a slightly revised schedule for distribution of rewards. So instead of the books shipping out this month, we’re now anticipating getting you your PDF’s next month and most likely shipping physical rewards end of next month/ early September.
We’re truly sorry. We hate delivering bad news here in White Ash. So to make it up to you, we are commissioning an EXTRA White Ash digital short story. This short will be sent to all backers most likely in October.

Hello White Ashians,
I hope your summers are off to a fantastic start. We’re continuing to work away here. As of now, all the hardcovers have been mailed (as long as you filled out your survey). If you haven’t received yours yet, it should be there any day now. The rest of the rewards are still on track to ship out in July. We’ll keep you posted if that changes.
In addition, Romina is also almost done with the Glarien short story. And it looks sooooo good. Here’s a small, (slightly NSFW) peek.
She’s just finishing up the rest of colors. You should be getting an email from BackerKit in the next couple of weeks letting you know that’s ready for download.
But the main reason I wanted to drop you a line is I have a brand-new series launching Monday on Kickstarter.
The Adept is about a young woman, AMY, from a broken home, who started being visited in her dreams by a Shaolin Master. For ten years he trained her in the Dreamscape, preparing her to face an unnamed evil. But then, with no warning, the dreams stopped, leaving Amy to wonder, if he was ever really there, or was he just a figment of her imagination. And now, years later, Amy must put that training to the test and hope at least some of it was real...
Like with all the Kickstarters that I’m involved with, there will be early bird specials and limited edition rewards. So if you want to check it out, you can sign up here to be notified when it goes live.

Who’s drawing the book?
The book is being draw by the incredible YiShan Li. You may know her work from Buffy the Vampier Slayer (Dark Horse), Swing (Top Cow) or Paradox Girl and Frenemies (right here on Kickstarter).
What else do I need to know?
This project is unlike anything I’ve been involved with before. Part of that is because it’s a collaboration between myself and Immortal Studios. And because I’m working with partners, it’s let me flex unused writing muscles and explore new ground. But If you’ve enjoyed the other books I’ve written (White Ash and The Game) I think you’ll really like this. It’s another expansive universe I can’t wait to introduce you to.
It’s also the first time I’ve gotten to work with a co-writer in comics. Tasha Huo is an absolutely amazing talent that I’m honored to share a page with. Tasha does most of her work in Hollywood on screenplays (currently on a movie that would blow your mind if I could tell you which one) but she can really “bring it” when it comes to comics.
Speaking of bringing it, Immortal Studios also brought in a real life, Shaolin Master to make sure the forms featured in the Adept are all authentic. We want to make sure with this book, that we’re honoring the genre and the Martial art that the story is drawn from.
This collaboration is also why The Adept is launching before your rewards for White Ash have shipped. For those of you who have been with me for a long time, you’ll know the general rule I follow is, I won’t launch a new Kickstarter until our rewards have begun shipping for the last one. For instance, if say (hint hint) I was going to launch a White Ash spin-off prequel series later this summer, I wouldn’t do that until I’d started shipping out the rest of the rewards for Chapter Five. The Kickstarter for the Adept is being run by Immortal Studios (and is on their timeline). But rest assure, you can have the same confidence in them to deliver a project that you have in me. I’m working closely with them on all aspects of the Kickstarter and the series to make sure they deliver the caliber of comic and Kickstarter experience that White Ashians are used to.

Hi White Ashians,
Just wanted to drop you a quick update, over 200 hardcovers have now been mailed. The plan had been to ship them all out by today, but we ran out of bubble wrap. (Gotta protect those books). More bubbles have been ordered and should be here by Friday. So we'll pack up the last batch this weekend and get them in the mail on Monday. So if you ordered a hardcover and don't have it yet, it should arrive in the next couple of days, or towards the end of next week (or end of next month if you're overseas).
Going forward, we're still on track for our July delivery. All the prints, postcards, stickers, etc. have been printed and delivered. The pins are in production right now. And Conor's working away on the last couple of pages of Chapter Five.
As soon as all of the hardcovers are mailed, we'll be back with another update. But until then, I wanted to make sure you didn't miss out on a chance to check out Kevin Joseph'sTART #10 which is back on Kickstarter for another 52 hours.
If you don't know Tart, it's the tale of a band of time-traveling demon hunters. I'm a huge fan of this book. Like Skies of Fire, Tart was one of the comics that made me realize there were fantastic books being made on Kickstarter. Kevin has been Kickstarting Tart since 2013. It's one of the longest running (if not the longest running ) comic book projects on the platform. Kevin always delivers both on and off kickstarter. In fact, he's the reason that White Ash ended up at Scout Comics. (Thanks again, Kevin). And like White Ash, Scout is also publishing Tart. But if you want to check out the Kickstarter version, you have till Friday morning. So please, click on over and TAKE A LOOK.
