Latest Updates from Our Project:

The Stretch Begins
about 4 years ago – Wed, Mar 25, 2020 at 03:51:14 PM

Hello White Ashians,

Shortly after we posted our update, we crossed the $16,500 threshold.  That's right you...

...smashed that Stretch Goal like an angry Hulk. And now everyone receiving something in the P.G.O.F.M. (Physical, Good Old-Fashioned Mail) will now get a 6x9 card stock print of Conor’s Thank You From Team Ash.

So, what's next on the docket to add to your reward bounty?  One of the all-time favorites rewards that we've done for our past campaigns, are our trading cards.  At this point, the set has grown to 12.  But with a new arc, comes new characters.  And so, we're going to need at least another one.

Thus, if we hit $18,000, every print backer will get a NEW CARD intro-ing an important new member of the White Ash mythos, included with their order.

But what if you're new to White Ash and you don't have the other 12 cards?  Well, every backer at one of our Print Catch Up tiers (or any of our tiers with original art or sketch covers) will receive all thirteen. (It's only fair, if you're catching up on printed things, you should be caught up).  If you're not in one of those catch up tiers and you still want a complete set of all 13, they will be available in our backer kit store post-campaign.

Here's a peek at the set as it currently stands.  Just imagine it with one other addition.

While I don't want to be accused of looking ahead, it seems pretty likely we're going to reach that goal.  When we do, we'll be very excited to unlock the next one.  And for our digital only backers, remember you get digital prints of every physical reward.  Plus, there's something coming down the pipeline that's extra special for you. So please don't despair at the abundance of printed rewards rolling out now.

In the meantime, a quick Kickstarter PSA...

Hey everyone, Charlie here. Conor, Fin and I know how lucky we are to have such and incredible group of backers on Kickstarter.   As such, I like to give back to the community and help shine the light on some other campaigns that friends and fellow creators are hosting and point you in some directions you may not have considered. For those new to our campaigns, my main rule is I never spotlight a campaign that I haven't backed myself.  So if you like genre mashing like White Ash, you might also really enjoy Snow White Zombie Apocalypse  from another fellow Scout Comics creator, Brenton Lengel.

This book has some stunning art, your favorite fairy tale characters... and Zombies.  If you're a fan of any of those three things, you should check it out.  Plus it's really funny too... in a very black comedy, lots of dead things, sort of way.  On top of that, Brenton has one of the most original awards I've ever seen on Kickstarter.  I'm not going to spoil it for you, but scroll down to the bottom of his campaign for the ultimate experience.

We'll be back very soon to reveal the next Stretch Goal.  Until then, again, thank you so much.  We couldn't do any of what we do with White Ash without you.

All the best,

Charlie, Conor and Fin

Another Stretch Goal down? We've got you Covered.
about 4 years ago – Wed, Mar 25, 2020 at 03:51:07 PM

Hello White Ashians,

And just like that, another Stretch goal is...

...DUSTED.  Amazing.  Thanks to you, every print backer will be getting one of our new trading cards and every catch-up backer will be getting a full set.  If we keep going at this rate, we'll soon have enough to make a deck (hmmmm...).

But ‘Nuff said about that, on to the next stretch goal...

...which is now REVEALED: $21,000  We've Got You Covered.

We know some of you backing White Ash are collectors.  We know that some of you love beautiful things.  To that end, if we're lucky enough to reach that goal, we will be printing a third cover for White Ash #5 by the incredibly talented Claudia Balboni (FairLady Image Comics, Star Trek IDW, etc.) and colored by White Ash's very own Fin Cramb, that will hit both those sweet spots.

Claudia has done a jaw-dropingly gorgeous and sensual cover featuring Lillian.  We will only be printing 150 copies of this variant.  Hitting the goal will unlock 2 new reward levels where you can grab this a copy.  It also will be automatically included with the following tiers:

  • Ultra Pin & Deluxe HC Catch Uo
  • Original Art
  • Sketch Cover
  • Draw Me In.

Or, if you prefer, there will also be a limited number of copies available as add-ons in our Backer Kit store, post-campaign.  Plus EVERYONE will get a hi-res digital copy of the cover as part of the Art of the Campaign.  We will reveal this cover as soon as we reach 20K.  Hopefully, if this pace keeps up, we'll be able to show it off on Monday.

In the meantime, you should all check out my very good friend, Russell Nohelty's  Cthulhu is Hard to Spell: Two Lovecraft comic anthologies

Hey everyone, Charlie here.  I met Russell a couple of years ago at SDCC.  And since then, he's become one of my favorite people to hang out with at conventions, gatherings of LA comic creators and at completely unrelated to comic book functions.  And he's killing it with this campaign.  The reason is, Russell only puts out high-quality books and works with amazing creators like:  Matthew Childers, Tony Donley, Kelsi Jo, Katrina Kunstman, Ray-Anthony Height, Brandon Perlow and Don Nguyen.

There are so many more people working on this anthology, knocking out 160 pages of hardcovered, Lovecraftian, all-ages goodness. And, if you pledge by TOMORROW, every backer will also receive Russell's "Quarantine Bundle" of six FREE digital comics, perfect for hunkering down when you don't want to go outside.  So today is definitely the day to CHECK IT OUT.

One last note on the hunkering down front, as we know everyone will be looking for something extra to read over the coming weeks, as soon as our campaign ends, we'll start sending out all the DOMESTIC hardcovers.  So those will be coming SEPERATELY and EARLIER than the rest of your White Ash rewards.  I wish we could do that for the international ones as well, but the shipping costs makes that prohibitive.

Stay safe everyone and thanks again.  We couldn't do any of this without you.

Best from Team Ash, Charlie, Conor and Fin.

A peek at the Balboni Cover
about 4 years ago – Wed, Mar 25, 2020 at 03:50:50 PM

Wow!

Just wow. Thank you again, White Ashians.  We're continuing our record-breaking pace.  And since we crossed $20,000, as promised, here's a look at the variant cover by Claudia Balboni and Fin Cramb.

I hope you'll agree that it's a stunning piece, showcasing the sensual side of White Ash that emerges once the moon comes out.  This very limited variant will be available once we hit $21,000.

Speaking of limited, time's running out to jump on board a couple of Kickstarters from two fellow Scout Creators. Both of these campaigns end on Friday.  The first is the Dusk County Chronicles from Joel Rodriguez.

A horror survival tale, the comic follows Lori as she tries to track down her missing sister before she falls prey to horrors within Dusk County.  The book has gotten some fantastic reviews.  So for those of you who like the small-town horror side of White Ash, I highly recommend checking it out

And for those of you who like the fantasy/ genre mixing side of White Ash, we've got another incredible title that you should back -- The Wild Cosmos by Curtis Clow.

This comic has some stunning art from Guillermo Fajardo and is colored by Bryan Valenza. It features space smugglers, pirates and a magic girl.  Do you really need more than that?  If you do, check out the campaign, scroll down to the sample pages and I promise you will be hooked.

Thank you again for all your support.  Especially now, as the world tries to figure out what the new normal is going to be for the next couple of months, your backing our work means so much to us.  We couldn't do this without you.  And we can't wait to bring you the next chapter in the story of our little town.

Stay safe everyone,

Charlie, Conor and Fin.

Balboni Boom
about 4 years ago – Wed, Mar 25, 2020 at 03:50:27 PM

Hello White Ashians,

Wow, 21K.  We did it.  The Claudia Balboni cover is UNLOCKED. Everyone in the following tiers will now automatically have it added to their rewards:

  • Ultra Pin & Deluxe HC Catch Up
  • Original Art
  • Sketch Cover
  • Draw Me In.

We've also just added two new tiers.

A BALBONI VARIANT tier and an All 3 COVERS tier.  You can get one at either of those places.  There will also be a limited number of copies available as add-ons in our Backer Kit store, post-campaign.  Plus EVERYONE will get a hi-res, digital copy of the cover as part of the Art of the Campaign.

Thank you for helping us make this happen.  It's a gorgeous cover that we're really happy we get to print.  We've also just unlocked the reveal of the next stretch goal. As it's getting late, we're going to save that till tomorrow, but we're perhaps more excited for this one, than any of the previous stretch goals.

And while we leave you in suspense, one thing you should have no doubt about is that if Ray Chou is doing a project, we backed it on Day One.  Ray (and Vincenzo Ferriero) are the minds behind Glow and Skies of Fire.  As I've written about in updates in previous campaigns, Skies of Fire was the book that made me want to bring White Ash to Kickstarter.  Ray and Vince set the bar for the platform and consistently bring stunning pieces of art to their backers, and if you check out their campaign for Glow, you'll see they've done it again.

In Glow, not only are they telling an epic tale with an elaborate, though out mythos, they're actually working with a linguist to create a new language for their world.  Their deep dive into world-building blows me away.  I'm so impressed with all the thought behind everything they do.  Plus on top of that, Glow is one of the most beautiful books you'll find on Kickstarter.

Thanks again everyone.  We know, with the world getting a bit crazy, your minds might be elsewhere.  So we really appreciate every single backer who has taken time to say they want to be part of what we're building in White Ash.  We can't do this without you.  But together, we can keep making some amazing comics.

Stay safe everyone,

Charlie, Conor and Fin

A Proper Thank You

Now that we've had a moment to catch our breath...

Hello White Ashians,

The insanity continues.  We've now had our biggest first, second and THIRD DAY.  We can't tell you how much we appreciate you sharing and spreading word of this campaign. Conor loves to do the thank you graphics for our backers.  But we funded so quickly, he only had time to ask Aleck and Lillian to take a break from water play in Lake Alden, to snap a selfie for you all.

So, to all of you who returned to back Chapter Five, and to all of the new faces that have taken a chance on us this time around, THANK YOU. You help us continue to make the White Ash kickstarters an event we're proud to host.

Now we can get to the fun part of the campaign, where we find ways to make the White Ash experience more amazing for you. So let’s get right to how we’re going to go about upgrading and adding rewards for the world's best set of backers.

STRETCH GOALS

To start with, we've almost hit $16,500.  And as soon as we do, we’re going send every backer who’s getting a physical reward, a 6x9 print of this (the one above) "thank you" illustration Conor drew.  All of our prints come on a heavy card stock.  They are frame worthy additions to your White Ash collection.

Also, once we hit that mark, we'll unlock and let you know what Mystery Stretch Goal #2 is.

In the interim, while you're waiting with baited breath to see what that might be, we'd love you to check out this campaign, The Electric Black Presents from fellow Scout Comic creators Joseph Schmalke and Rich Woodhall.

If you love the old EC Tales from the Crypt, this comic is for you.  Joseph, Rich and a slew of amazing creators including Paul Pelletier, Karl Moline, Christian DiBari, Walter Ostlie , Ben Bishop, and C.P. Wilson III have assembled to bring a modern twist on old tales of horror and creepiness.  Even if this comic doesn't fit snugly in your wheelhouse, you've got to check out the video for some amazing tips of the cap to a classic John Carpenter film.

We'll probably be back tomorrow, with the next reveal.  But until then, thank you so much, we really really couldn't do this without you.  It's comforting for us to know so early in the campaign that Chapter Five is happening and now we can spend our time on making sure the book, and all the new rewards, are the best they can possibly be for our backers.

Thank you, THANK YOU,

Charlie, Conor and Fin (AKA Team Ash)
