Shipping is underway
over 3 years ago – Sun, Nov 08, 2020 at 09:20:26 PM

Hello White Ashians,

Here it is, the update you've all be waiting for, Chapter Five fulfillment is now underway.  As of this post over 300 packages have been mailed and another 100 are scheduled to go out this weekend.  The hope is to have 99% of the packages (almost 700 in total) in the mail by Monday the 16th.  So if you live in the US you should have your books by the end of next week.  If you're an international backer, I'm hoping you receive your rewards in the next 3-5 weeks, but with the state of the United States Postal Service, I just don't know.  But with a little luck, you'll have them by late November/ early December.

Speaking of late November/ early December, that's when you should also expect the last digital Glarien short. Yishan Li is working on it now and the pages are looking amazing.  But everything that Yishan does looks incredible, including this cover...

What's this cover from?  Hypothetically, it's from new White Ash-related project that will be hitting Kickstarter at the end of the month.  And if that were the case, we'd let you, our incredible backers know first, so you could jump on all the deals.  But since we're still fulfilling Chapter Five, we're going to hold off on any hypothetical announcement until we finish.

But if you're jonesing to back a book on Kickstarter, I have some great suggestions for you including a project that JUST launched today.  That book is the always fabulous TART by Kevin Joseph.

If you haven't checked out the tale of the time-traveling demon hunter, today's the day.  Tart is one of the longest running books on Kickstarter. There's a reason for that.

And if you like books like Tart, where you get to see young women take down demons, you're also going to love David Byrne's Stake Presents: Jessamy #1

This campaign only has 7 days left.  They've unlocked 7 stretch goals and are on the precipice of #8.  All of that is giving you a ton of value for your pledge.  And when you do check it out, you've got to watch the video.  David goes all out as voice actor.  For that effort alone, it's worth giving Stake a back.

And rounding out the trifecta of campaigns featuring powerful women, is one that features a trio of them... Monty Nero's FRENEMIES.

Spotlighting more incredible art from Yishan Li, Monty's explosive sci-fi fantasy follows seven rivals who are competing to find a mysterious lost planet that may save or destroy the world. Monty's comics never disappoint.  His plotting is filled with fabulous twists and turns and his dialogue is always crisp with humor just where you need it.  You won't be disappointed if you take a look.

We'll be back next week with a shipping update and perhaps another tease of that hypothetical new project.  Stay safe everyone.

All the best from Team Ash,

Charlie, Conor and Fin

Comics start shipping next week
over 3 years ago – Wed, Oct 21, 2020 at 07:52:21 PM

Hello White Ashians,

I have tracking numbers.  The comics have begun their way across the country and should be with me this weekend/ early next week. I anticipate the first batch of books going out on Wednesday.   All the goodies are already prepped and ready for packing. So now it's just about putting our noses to the grindstone and working some shipping magic.

Also, in case you'd forgotten, one of the many stretch goals for the campaign was a trail map of White Ash. We wanted to give you a peek at that now.  In addition to being an incredible artist, Conor is also a pretty fabulous graphic designer.  All the best trails are included.  Hopefully this will help you plan your next vacation to our little town.

We'll be back next week with with an update on shipping, and maaaaaaaaaaaybe some information on an upcoming White Ash related Kickstarter.

But until then, I'd like to point out a couple of projects that are currently live on Kickstarter.  The first is an anthology called Nightmare Theatre that I (Charlie) contributed a small story to in collaboration with the amazing Mick Beyers and Gab Contreras.

The book is a murder's row of indie kickstarter creators featuring David Pepose (Spencer & Locke, The O.Z.), Jessica Maison (Plastic Girl), Newton Lilavois (Crescent City Monsters), Karla Nappi (Duplicant),  David Avallone(Drawing Blood, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark), Russell Nohelty (Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter), Terry Mayo (The Wicked Righteous), and so many more.

It just went live today, so if you want to grab and early bird special on a hardcover, here's the LINK.

And while we're on the subject of monsters, my friend Steven Prince has a week to go in his MONSTER MATADOR campaign and he could use a little help making it across the finish line.

Set in a near future where monsters appeared suddenly and without warning, bringing death and destruction. Ramon Alejandro Estévez-Guerrero roams the earth fighting these monsters in memory of his late wife and to make a better world for his daughter – he is the MONSTER MATADOR!

And if you're wondering... "How exactly does a 6 ft tall Matador fight giant-sized-Kaiju monsters? With a cape and sword, of course."

I really enjoyed the first book and I think it's well worth checking out

Have a great week everyone,  we're so excited to be able to finally start shipping out rewards next week.

All the very best,

Charlie, Conor and Fin.

Not once... but Twice
over 3 years ago – Sat, Oct 03, 2020 at 10:37:59 AM

Hey everyone,

Sorry there was a hiccup with the PDF going out.  I just sent it again.  So if you didn't get it before, you may now get it twice.  There's no difference between the White Ash 05 PDF and the White Ash Chapter Five PDF, I just needed to rename the download to be able to send it again.

Thank again for the support,

Charlie

The PDF is here!

Hello patient White Ashians,

Check your inbox, BackerKit has sent out the Chapter Five PDFs.  I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did.  Conor and Fin have outdone themselves, setting a new bar for White Ash art. And I'm thrilled to finally be able to share it with you.

In other good news, the PDF is with the printer.  As soon as I have an ETA, I will share that with you, but we anticipate the first packages will start arriving in the next three weeks.  We're also happy to announce that Yishan Li, who I had the immense pleasure of working with on The Adept, has signed on to do the additional Glarien short that we promised to send all backers. This short is our way of saying how much we appreciate all of you and your patience through the process.

Speaking of things I appreciate, I wanted to mention three good friends who currently have projects on Kickstarter.  Two of them launched today, and one is just about to finish.

The first is from Indie Comic Super Star, Liana Kangas (Vault, TKO, Blackmask 200 AD) who's serving up burgers with a side of demonic possession in TRVE KVLT.

She has managed, much like your favorite fast food joint to put together a bunch of disparate elements (Satanism, fast food, apathy) together and make them taste wonderful.  And she didn't even need a bun or special sauce. This comic is already fully funded, but I recommend you check it out now.

And on the horrific end of the spectrum, NIGHTMARE from Malissa White is ready to keep you up at night.

NIGHTMARE follows Lucinda "Luz" Padilla as she discovers her recurring nightmares are actually alternative realities. Fans of Nightmare on Elm Street's horrifying dream worlds and Fringes' sci-fi conspiracy will love this dimension-hopping dark fantasy. I encourage you to take a peek from under your covers... if you dare.

And finally, if you're looking for a bit more of a laugh, David Schrader's Rafael Garcia: Henchman is ready to stand proud and present in full thong-tactic glory.

Rafael Garcia: Henchman brings the old familiar tropes of a dark workplace comedy by way of a brand-new cinematic superhero universe. It's an action comedy that mixes the daily grind of The Office with the slacker absurdity of Stripes -- if the General in charge was more like Lex Luthor.  If you were a fan of Schrader's Baby Bad-Ass, you've got 4 more days to get yourself a henchman.

Thanks again for accompanying us on this journey though the Covid times.  We hope this chapter of White Ash brings you some joy in this difficult era of history.

Stay safe and healthy everyone,

Charlie and the rest of Team Ash (Conor and Fin)

PDF's next week
over 3 years ago – Sat, Sep 26, 2020 at 07:04:09 PM

Hello White Ashians,

We wanted to drop you a quick update as we head into the weekend.  Conor finished the inks on Wednesday.  The last couple of pages are with Fin now for colors and we should have the PDF to you by the middle of next week (if not earlier).  Our printer is also on alert and has promised a very quick turn around.  We're hoping to begin shipping out the physical packages in about 3 weeks.  We will keep you posted if this timeline changes.

Note: if you're a backer who's getting a Sketch Cover or an Original Sketch from Conor, he will be emailing you very shortly to get your order from you.

Thank you again for your patience.  I'm thrilled with how this issue has turned out. Conor and Fin have really brought their A-Game.  I think you're all really going to enjoy the next chapter in the White Ash saga.  And as I mentioned before, as our way of saying we're sorry for the delay, I've commissioned another Glarien short story.  That's in production now and you should be getting the PDF for that one sometime late in November.

Stay safe everyone,

Charlie, Conor and Fin
